Certain members of Congress and various college administrators continue to work on a piece of legislation that would cover a wide variety of issues in college sports—it would be bad for the players if it were to pass, naturally—and that includes a possible cap on league expansion
It would also make it a lot more challenging for a school to hop from one power conference to another
Nineteen? What kind of crazy number is this? Who comes up with these things? I mean, a league with an odd number of schools? Who would do that on purpose?
Something like this would I suppose make it far more likely that the ACC would maintain its current monster-sized membership well into the future, given the financial challenges that would come with spending five years living in Notre Dame World with actually being Notre Dame, but then again—who knows. This bill also has been on the table for quite a while in one form or another and I remain dubious that it ever actually gets anywhere
