(NewsNation) — The recent outbreaks of cyclosporiasis and salmonella have brought forth concerns of food safety when it comes to produce
Cyclospora has now expanded to more raw fruits and vegetables beyond the initial iceberg lettuce recall stemming from Taylor Farms
There is also a recall of products that contain jalapeño peppers due to a salmonella outbreak from a farm in Mexico

Both salmonella and cyclosporiasis can be caused by produce getting treated with contaminated water that may have come into contact with feces, but experts have not found any connection between the two recalls being linked
Health experts also say the outbreaks do not mean food safety standards are declining, with one telling local news outlet Decaturish that public health officials were “right on schedule” with what has been seen with other cyclospora outbreaks in the past with investigating the link between the lettuce and cyclospora
It is also still safe to eat fruits and vegetables, but experts remind people to remain vigilant by washing any fresh produce thoroughly
