Today, Dallas has a multitude of run clubs and fitness classes for people to choose from. But 10 years ago, the fitness scene in Dallas looked very different. Fitness Ambassadors founder Mai Lyn Ngo was one of the first to create a space where people can find community while also getting a workout.
Fitness Ambassadors is a social club and wellness program that hosts events at many spaces around Dallas. Ngo created this space 10 years ago when she was feeling lonely and looking for a sense of community. In college at Southern Methodist University, she played lots of intramural sports and missed the consistency and camaraderie. Ngo first started the group as a side hobby while she was still working full-time, but then it became a full-time job on its own.
“We have an incredible membership where people get to come make friends, move their bodies and discover Dallas through the experiences that we put on,” Ngo said

Ngo said that Fitness Ambassadors was one of the first fitness communities to happen in Dallas that wasn’t tied to a specific gym or workout program. Since then, the social club has grown immensely; last summer, the group hosted their first event with 1,000 people.
Some upcoming events hosted by Fitness Ambassadors include the first-ever Stadium Sweat Series at the Cotton Bowl, which will take place on August 9 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. It will be a free outdoor fitness experience at one of Dallas’s most iconic landmarks. Instructor Jackie Brown will lead a 50-minute HIIT and strength workout, and there will also be a mini vendor market and time to socialize
The next event will be the Fame Fest 2026: A Wellness Experience at Omni Las Colinas, on September 19 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Omni Las Colinas Hotel. It will feature a coffee social/matcha bar, a walk/run and yoga flow, a pilates burn, HIIT class, boxing and a sculpt class. The day will end with a poolside sendoff party. General admission will be $55 and VIP admission will be $69
In October, the Rooftop Sweat and Social at Legacy West will happen at Legacy West on October 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be four workout classes, live music and a vendor village.
Also, during each week there are many free fitness classes happening in downtown Dallas, Mockingbird Station and other locations.

“To be a safe space and a re community and connections,” Ngo said. “It’s been an honor to serve the community in that way.”
