Ky. (WKYT) – Retired Fayette County Public Schools Director of Finance Rodney Jackson says he is pursuing legal action
Jackson spoke at the Lexington Public Library’s Marksbury Branch
An investigative report released in early March, found Jackson, failed to fulfill his responsibilities in that role
On July 10, district officials confirmed to WKYT that Rodney Jackson retired, after spending several months on medical leave
Jackson explained that he was on FMLA leave taking care of his mother and underwent hip replacement surgery
In the news conference, Jackson said that allegations that he committed any wrongdoing are false and that he is not responsible for the budget shortfall, but he hasn’t been able to say anything until now
Jackson said that the allegations that the district’s financial issues had been ongoing for over a decade, call into question the integrity of previous board members and superintendents
He said he will not allow false allegations to ruin his career and will take legal action
Jackson also proclaimed that his retirement was his decision and on his own terms, he was not asked to resign or encouraged to retire or threatened and that he is proud of his years of service for FCPS
