Wis. (WMTV) -The Wisconsin Historical Society is inviting fashion enthusiasts to get hands-on and learn about the connection between historic clothing and the styles we see today with two summer experiences
Inspired! Stitch Your Style Fashion Workshop
The first event is a workshop, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8, that highlights hand sewing and embroidery. Participants will create a personalized item of clothing or an accessory with provided materials. Beginner-friendly and open to everyone 13 years old and older, the workshop runs from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at History Maker Space, 1 S. Pinckney St., Madison
Inspired! Historic Fashions and the Emerging Designers They Influenced
The second experience is a tour of the Wisconsin Historical Society’s (WisHistory) clothing and textile collection at the State Archive Preservation Facility. Attendees will also learn how vintage clothing inspired designs by graduates from the UW-Madison Textiles and Fashion Design program. This event will be offered Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 15-16, from 1 to 3:45 p.m. at the State Archive Preservation Facility, 204 S. Thornton Ave
