OKLAHOMA CITY —
A fitness event in Oklahoma City, Sweat and Social, is bringing the community together this Saturday at Bungalow 23 to promote health and wellness through a variety of activities
“It brings together a DJ playing great music, instructors teaching different sessions like a boxing session this time, dance fit, cardio, full body bootcamp and yoga from different studios,” said Shiny Mathew, founder of Sweat and Social

Mathew created the event as a way to combine fitness with spending quality time with friends
“I already have a very sedentary job where I sit all day, and I wanted to be more proactive, at least in those times where I’m spending quality time with my friends,” she said
The event, which costs $15, begins at 8:30 a.m. and offers more than just workouts
“There is a group cold plunge. There is also a group sauna, healthy food, healthy drinks, healthy lifestyle vendors on site, supplement vendors,” Mathew said
This is only the third time Mathew has hosted the event, but it has already gained traction in the community. She hopes it will highlight Oklahoma City’s fitness culture
“You know, I saw that Oklahoma City was just ranked the unhealthiest city in this report. I want to prove them wrong. We have a vibrant fitness community, from our Pilates community to the bodybuilders we have for the Sweat and Social,” she said
The event is designed to cater to a wide range of fitness interests
“We have people come out who their fitness, their connection of fitness, is swimming, cycling, boxing, you name it, and I love to see that wide spectrum of people who have some connection to fitness, not segmented into their own individual classes or groups and communities, but together recognizing that there’s lots of ways to live a healthy fit lifestyle,” Mathew said
With the heat expected on Saturday, there will be plenty of shade and free water provided by Ozarka
The event will be held at Bungalow 23, which is at 2419 North Lee Ave. in Oklahoma City. More details can be found here
