Pa. — Penn State Student Farm and Food Systems will host its annual Summer Plant Sale from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both Thursday, July 23, and Friday, July 24, at Headhouse III of the Tyson greenhouses on Curtin Road. The event is open to all members of the Penn State community and the public
The sale will feature a variety of garden seedlings ideal for late summer planting and fall harvesting, including vegetables, herbs and perennial flowers. Succulents and other houseplants also will be available for purchase. Visitors are welcome to stop by at any time during the event to browse the selection
“The planning for the Summer Plant Sale has been progressing smoothly, and I’m thrilled for the community to see what we’ve been growing,” said Zoe Seitz, greenhouse manager for the Student Farm. “We have a great selection of zucchinis, cucumbers, squash, head lettuces, cabbages, herbs and more. I can’t wait to see everyone there on July 23 and 24.”
The event highlights the benefits of late-season planting, which can extend the growing season into October and November in central Pennsylvania. Many crops, such as lettuce and cabbage, thrive in cooler temperatures and lower light levels. The seedlings available at the sale have been carefully timed and cultivated to succeed in the region’s unique conditions
Attendees are encouraged to bring a box or bag to carry their purchases. Accepted forms of payment include cash or check only. Visitors driving to campus may park at the East Parking Deck for the posted hourly rate
