SK Siltron will close its Michigan-based subsidiary SK Siltron CSS and wind down operations at the Bay County facility, citing significant shifts in the electric vehicle market
“Based on changes in market conditions, SK Siltron will wind down its U.S.-based SK Siltron CSS subsidiary,” said Joe Guy Collier, a spokesperson with the company

But less than four years later, the bright spot of mid-Michigan’s growing economy, which once attracted a visit from a sitting president, is burning out
Officials from SK Siltron confirmed to MLive/The Bay City Times Thursday, July 16, that the company would be closing its Michigan location, winding down operations over the course of the next couple of months

ATS Printing expansion approved in Monitor Township
An industrial printing facility in Monitor Township has moved closer to nearly doubling its size after receiving conditional approval from local officials, though final state environmental clearance remains outstanding
The Monitor Township Planning Commission approved a site plan allowing ATS Printing to add 39,900 square feet to its current 54,000-square-foot building at 1477 3 Mile Road
Township engineering consultants, the drain commissioner and the fire department endorsed the project before the planning commission meeting

A drive-thru beverage concept held its ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7142 E. Ave. on July 2, marking the opening of 7 Brew’s newest Michigan location
The company donated $1,000 to The ROCK Center for Youth Development during the event
Representatives from The ROCK Center attended the ceremony to receive the donation from 7 Brew Midland

Home Builders Association expands to Bay County, adds training center
The Home Builders Association of Great Lakes Bay Region has expanded to include Bay County, forming a four-county alliance that will serve residential construction professionals across Saginaw, Midland, Bay and Gladwin counties
The expansion, endorsed by the Home Builders Association of Michigan and the National Association of Home Builders, comes as the association builds a new Reims to address workforce shortages by providing hands-on training for students, career-changers and trade professionals

Members of the Hey, Bay City! workforce development initiative presented a final quarterly report to city officials this week, marking the end of a program that connected hundreds of employers with thousands of job seekers across Bay County
Sara Parker, director of workforce development for Hey, Bay City! and the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Foundation, told Bay City commissioners Monday, July 6, that American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding used to fund the initiative has been exhausted
