Ky. (WFIE) – An overnight shooting at an Owensboro business sent one person to the hospital with a life-threatening injury
The Owensboro Police Department (OPD) said officers were monitoring a large gathering at a business located in the 1100 block of West 9th Street early Sunday morning
Around 1:30 a.m., police said they heard a gunshot and saw the crowd dispersing. OPD said a 32-year-old woman was found in the parking lot with a life-threatening injury. She was taken to a local hospital
While securing the area, officers heard additional gunshots nearby, but no other victims were found
Officers collected evidence and interviewed witnesses at the scene. OPD said a female juvenile suspect was later taken into custody in connection with the incident and is being charged with assault, possession of a handgun by a minor and other crimes
The investigation is ongoing, and OPD says more information will be released once it’s available
