Avon Lake– The City of Avon Lake held a ribbon cutting event to celebrate the opening of Lake Erie Aesthetics & Wellness at their new location at The Landings, 32730 Walker Road, Suite F3-4, on August 3. The ribbon cutting was followed by an open house celebration in honor of their three-year anniversary in Avon Lake
Founded by co-owners, Dr. Janice Rice and Amber Keller, CNP, Lake Erie Aesthetics & Wellness offers a wide range of services, including injectables, laser treatments, infrared sauna and facials, spray tanning, microneedling, hormone support, fitness classes, and more. According to a press release, each service is personalized to support long-term health, natural-looking results, and greater confidence from the inside out
Dr. Rice and Keller opened their first location in Sandusky, Ohio in 2022, then expanded to a second location in Avon Lake in 2023
“As two medical professionals who share a passion for helping clients feel confident and supported, Dr. Rice and Amber wanted to create a space where medical aesthetics and whole-person wellness could come together under one roof,” Lake Erie Aesthetics & Wellness Marketing Manager Sammy Pflieger said in a press release. “Our move to The Landings felt natural for us as we found ourselves in need for a space that could support our expanding services and client community. The new location still offers our elevated and welcoming environment while creating room for us to provide larger services that we currently offer at our Sandusky location, such as fitness classes and an infrared sauna.”

Lake Erie Aesthetics & Wellness’ Avon Lake location is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., closed Thursdays and weekends
Open house: The City of Avon is hosting an open house for the public to tour the new location of City Hall on August 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. City Hall is now located at 36600 Detroit Road, the former Avon Board of Education building
Soccer cup: Lorain County Le. Open Cup, becoming one of a select group of amateur clubs with the opportunity to compete in the oldest ongoing national soccer competition in the United States
Founded in 1914, the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the American equivalent of England’s FA Cup, bringing together amateur clubs, professional teams from USL League Two, USL League One, the USL Championship, and Major League Soccer in a single-elimination tournament. The competition has produced some of the greatest “David versus Goliath” moments in American soccer, with amateur clubs earning the chance to challenge the nation’s top professional teams
Lorain County Lequalifying matches scheduled between September and November. Based on the club’s success during qualifying, the Lereating a pathway to compete against professional clubs from across the United States
The invitation follows the inaugural season for the USL League Two expansion club. During its first six home matches this spring, the Leat ForeFront Field while compiling a 6-1-5 record. The club remained in the playoff race until the final week of the season, establishing itself as one of the strongest first-year organizations in USL League Two
“This season proved something much bigger than wins and losses,” Andrew McDonnell, Chairman and Founder of Lorain County Leviathan FC, said. “The support we received from our fans, partners, volunteers, and community showed that high-level soccer is viable in Lorain County for the long term. More importantly, the pride, excitement, and sense of community that developed throughout our inaugural season tells us we’re becoming part of the fabric of Lorain County. That’s what makes this U.S. Open Cup opportunity so special. It belongs to everyone who believed in this club from the beginning.”
Participation in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup qualifying tournament marks another significant milestone in the club’s mission to elevate soccer throughout Northeast Ohio. Every qualifying match represents an opportunity to continue writing the club’s history while showcasing Lorain County on a national stage, officials said. Success in qualifying would earn the Leviathan a place in the 2027 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, where the club could ultimately face professional opponents from the USL Championship, USL League One, and Major League Soccer.
Season ticket renewals for the 2027 season are currently underway as the club prepares for its second USL League Two campaign and its historic U.S. Open Cup qualifying run

Cat call: Kamm’s Cat Guardians is asking for donations of dollars and wet food for their fosters and colonies. The group said it is getting harder to continue as both donations and adoptions have been trending downward. The group can be reached online at www.KCGuardians.org
Centennial celebration: Avon High School is inviting all alumni to celebrate 100 years of excellence at their Centennial Celebration on August 29 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at ForeFront Field
Gates open at 4 p.m. and the opening ceremony starts at 6:30 p.m. A special musical performance will be given by Paul Pope and Robbie Rist, and featuring Bill March and Don Krueger. A fireworks show will close out the celebration
Seasonal help: Avon Lake is hiring seasonal laborers in its Public Works Department. Applications are available to download or pick up from City Hall during normal hours of operation
The City of Avon Lake is seeking temporary seasonal employees. This part-time, temporary work will include various daily, scheduled and emergent maintenance on city properties, operation of small hand tools, clearing of brush, leaves, ice and snow as directed, storm water management work including ditch cleaning crew
Regular work hours will be Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 5 days a week, for no more than 12 weeks
Prior experience helpful but not required. State of Ohio valid driver’s license required. Required to pass a background check and drug test. Rate of pay is $17 per hour
NORTH RIDGEVILLE
Chamber drive: The North Ridgeville Chamber of Commerce is asking for help with the Hope for the Soul school supply drive. Their goal is to fill 80 backpacks with essential school supplies for students who need them most this school year. The chamber is asking folks to donate school supplies, sponsor a backpack and forward this information to help spread the word

Panty raid: The North Ridgeville Chamber of Commerce is proud to support the Rotary Essentials Summer Service Project, who are on a mission to collect new, unworn underwear for those in need in our community. Yes, you read that right
“We need your unmentionables,” Rotary officials said in a press release
New underwear is one of the most needed and least donated items at shelters and service organizations. Rotary officials ask residents to dig into shopping lists, grab a pack or two of underwear, and help make a difference one pair at a time
It does not have to be fancy, only new. Officials are looking to fill 100 adult tote bags and 48 youth totes filled with personal care items, hygiene products, underwear, bras and other essentials for children and adults of all ages and sizes
“Come on, North Ridgeville, let’s show our neighbors some love from the bottom up,” officials said
Drop off locations include LCCC Ridge Campus, the North Ridgeville Branch Library, the VFW 9871, Xtreme Performance, and Mi Bella Case Furniture. Folks can also sponsor individual bags for $25 or an entire family for $125
