Discussing Klubnik’s success after the game, head coach Aaron Glenn noted that this is nothing new for the former Clemson quarterback, as putting similar play on tape in South Carolina is a big reason why the Jets selected him 110th overall

“When we watched him in college, he was the same way,” Glenn told reporters via NBC Sports. “Nothing changes. He has some moxie to him. He’s very confident. He’s confident in his arm. He’s confident in his ability to elude and make plays with his feet. And his ability to be able to come out and operate with the first group the way he did, to me, I thought was outstanding. Still some things that he has to learn, still mistakes that he made in the game, but listen, he’s going to be quick to correct those, just like the other players are. We’re going to continue to move forward.”

While Smith is locked in as the Jets’ starting quarterback, assuming health, Klubnik is an intriguing member of New York’s quarterback room who could see action in 2026 if things go off the rails one way or another. If that day comes, all eyes will be on Klubnik once more, as he could end up being more than a seat-warmer for next year’s first-round pick
