Alas, no-one does it bigger or better than US President Donald Trump who has once again managed to seize the limelight in front of a global audience – much to the frustration of Australian broadcaster Claudio Fabiano who is now making global headlines of his own

Having assisted with the handing out of trophies and medals to the players and officials, the US President once again lingered on stage to gate-crash Spain‘s crowning as 2026 FIFA World Cup Champions just as he had done at Chelsea’s World Club Cup presentation 12 months earlier at the same venue in New Jersey
As the US President remained stubbornly on stage amongst the Spanish players and FIFA President Gianni Infantino awkwardly attempted to encourage him aside, SBS host Claudio Fabiano chose to share his thoughts with his studio co-hosts back in Australia – only to share them with the entire nation in an all-time classic ‘hot mic’ moment

“They can edit him out of that,” Fabiano could be heard saying as Trump eventually shifted to the edge of the stage

Indeed, they can and probably will.
But with snippets of the SBS footage quickly going viral Fabiano is well on the way to becoming arguably more famous than any other Australian to appear at this FIFA World Cup
It remains to be seen what President Trump has to say about it all
