The Milwaukee Brewers made light work of the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday, making it look as though their opponent, which was one win away from making it to the World Series last year, was from the minor leagues. The Brewers took the Mariners to the woodshed, demolishing them to the tune of a 22-0 victory in what is one of the most historic blowouts in MLB history

This just speaks volumes to how stellar the Brewers have played as a team this year, although it’s not too often that the perfect storm comes together which then leads to a blowout of that magnitude. For designated hitter Christian Yelich,it was just fun for him to be a part of a Milwaukee side that’s emerged as the best team in MLB this year
“It’s kind of crazy. I mean, it happened fast. It’s always fun to be on this side of that. You know, just a fun night for the guys,” Yelich said, nights when they’re going your way.”

It got so out of hand in the Brewers’ favor that they decided to throw out backup catcher Gary Sanchez for one inning on the mound. The Mariners had put a position player on the mound in the previous half-inning, so the Brewers, out of respect for their opponents, did the same. Alas, Seattle still could not capitalize. Sanchez threw a shutout inning even though he allowed two hits

Yelich, for his part, went 2-5 from the plate with a home run and four runs batted in
The Brewers, at 78-48, have the best record in MLB, and they are well on their way to clinching a postseason berth. The franchise’s consistency year-in, year-out is a marvel to behold, and the hope for the team is that everything comes together for them come postseason time
