The Crow Wing Soil and Water Conservation District is hosting a free soil health event on Aug. 26 near Pequot Lakes
This event will inform farmers and land managers of ways to improve the health of their soil. It will include a rainfall infiltration demonstration and a field tour led by a local farmer who is implementing soil health practices including no-till drill seeding on their farm
“This event gets farmers and land managers into the field to see soil health practices in action in their area.” said Melissa Barrick, Crow Wing SWCD Manager, in a news release. “Participants will get the chance to ask questions to soil health professionals and peers on different management practices related to soil health.”
The event is 2-6 p.m. at a farm near Pequot Lakes. There is no cost to attend, and the event will include food. Pre-registration is preferred by Aug. 13. To register, visit

If a quorum of the SWCD board supervisors are in attendance for the event, the board members will not discuss, deliberate or make decisions. This is an educational event that is open to the public
