The 49 Project is returning to the Oklahoma City Police Department next month, with officials saying this year’s Health and Wellness Re
The event is held to honor the lives of three officers who died of cardiac events in the last five years. Oklahoma City police officers will pack the Civic Center to keep the force healthy for years to come

For Rosko, the 49 Project is personal. He created the wellness event to honor three officers who died from cardiac events
One of them was Master Sgt. Tomas Daugherty, whom Rosko called his best friend. He died in September 2021
“Tomas was a great friend of mine. I know all of his boys. We were partners in the academy, partners in the streets, and he started the Oklahoma City Police Cadet Academy,” Rosko said
Going into the program’s third year, Rosko told KOCO 5 that this will be the 49 Project’s biggest event yet. They’re also expanding the guest list to include department retirees

“This year, we’re expecting anywhere from 500 to 700 employees, and we have more than 40 rents to the Oklahoma City Police Department, from pain management to cardiovascular care. They’re going to be able to have consultations and visit with those doctors.”

“We had an officer who stopped by 49 Project last year. He had limited time to do the biometric testing,” Rosko said. “He found he was weeks away from a cardiovascular event because his cholesterol was way too high. They got him to a cardiologist and got him the help he needed.”
Rosko hopes the force’s focus on health and wellness will continue to catch on across the country
“We’re getting people from all over the country reaching out to talk about 49 Project and to see how they can set it up,” he said
The daylong event is slated for Aug. 25 at the Civic Center in downtown Oklahoma City. It’s only open to Oklahoma City Police Department employees, their families, and retirees
