The Top 10 San Antonio brunch destination Full Belly has closed in Stone Oak, owner Blade Haddock confirmed Monday
The July 1 closing comes six years after Full Belly opened at the dawn of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. The restaurant closed temporarily later that year, then reopened as pandemic restrictions started to ease, adding a second location in Olmos Park in 2024. That location closed last year

Haddock said he hopes to bring back the concept late next year at a different location in San Antonio, revamped to fit its original mission as an all-day cafe and bistro. The staffing and logistical challenges of the pandemic compelled Full Belly to shift its emphasis away from that idea and focus on brunch and lunch, Haddock said

But necessity breeds strength in the restaurant business, and Full Belly became one of the Express-News’ Top 10 brunch restaurants, building on the strength of buckwheat pancakes, chorizo-poblano hash and pork-belly eggs Benedict with red-eye gravy.
