Hi Hokies! We are so excited to welcome our new and returning students back to campus. As we gear up for football season, here are some ways that you can keep game days safe and fun for everyone — no matter if this is your first football game or if you’re a football fanatic
Game day logistics
- Gates open two hours before kickoff. Arrive 90 minutes early to avoid heavy crowds.
- Bring your ID and ensure that your name on your ticket matches your name on your ID.
- Student General Admissions (GA) ticket holders must follow the designated path from Washington Street by the tennis courts, which will route behind the Beamer Lawson Practice Facility to Gate 7.
- GA tickets MUST enter at Gate 7 and Gate 7 is only for GA tickets. All other ticket types must use other gate entrances.
- Only GA tickets are allowed in the north end zone and east side student sections.
- Arrive with the group you want to sit with if your tickets are in the same section.
- Download your ticket early and use Tap and Go mode to prevent a delay at the gate. Data networks can be overloaded and unreliable at the stadium.
- If you receive a wristband upon entering the stadium, it must be worn at all times.
- Remain on established pathways. Do not climb fences or other obstacles.
- Walk. Do not run toward the gate.
- If the crowd in front of you comes to a stop, do not push forward or try to go around.
- Students will be directed to the northeast ramp to access eastside student sections.
- No Hokie Left Behind! Arrive to the stadium together, enter and sit according to your ticket, and leave the stadium together.
Please note that starting this fall, we are implementing extra measures to help control crowd flow and support everyone’s safety and well-being. Staff will seat students from the bottom to the top of the seating areas to prevent overcrowding in the stands and stairways. Keeping stairways clear is essential to ensure emergency and rescue personnel have clear access if needed.
Running, pushing, shoving, standing, sitting in stairways, occupying seating areas without a seat, or attempting to access the east stands from another location will not be permitted and may result in removal from the stadium
The Student Conduct Office will be on site at football games to inform students of conduct consequences and take disciplinary action if necessary
How to avoid a Student Conduct referral
- Always be respectful of others’ personal space. Do not push.
- Leave alcoholic beverages at your tailgate event.
- If you have trash, alcohol, or food, discard it in the nearby bins before entry.
- Stadium Woods access is restricted. Plan your route accordingly.
- Using fraudulent tickets or exhibiting unsafe or disruptive behavior will result in a direct referral to student conduct.
- Follow instructions provided by university staff, Virginia Tech Police officers, and Rhino event staff.
You play an essential role in keeping all Hokies safe. Thank you for being respectful and bringing the best of Hokie Nation to the game
Let’s have a great football season! Go Hokies!
