Golden State Warriors stalwart big man Draymond Green will be staying with the team for another year
Per ESPN’s Shams Charania, Green and the Warriors have agreed to a $27.7 million deal through the 2026-27 season. Green’s deal is the same as the one he opted out of before the 2026 free agency window which allowed the team to have flexibility to pursue LeBron James (who ultimately signed with the Philadelphia 76ers)

Green, who won the Kia Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2016-17, has made nine All-Defensive teams and four All-Star teams in his career. He has only played for the Warriors since being drafted No. 35 in the 2012 Draft and was an integral part of Golden State’s four championship teams
Last season, Green averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game while shooting 41.8% overall and 32.6% on 3-pointers. The Warriors went 37-45 last season and reached the SoFi Play-In Tournament, but did not qualify for the NBA Playoffs
The Warriors ultimately lost out on adding James, but re-signed the majority of their free agents in the offseason. Charles Bassey, Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton and Kristaps Porziņģis all signed or agreed to deals, and only Quinten Post moved on (he signed with Memphis)
Green figures to be a part of a frontline in 2026-27 that includes Horford and Porziņģis as well as rookie big man Yaxel Lendeborg (who was named NBA Summer League MVP). The team is also set to be led once again by coach Steve Kerr, who signed a two-year contract in the offseason
Golden State’s finish in 2025-26 was, in large part, a byproduct of injuries. The Warriors lost Jimmy Butler to a season-ending knee injury in January and endured Stephen Curry’s 27-game absence with a right knee injury of his own. Moses Moody also was sidelined by a left knee injury in March that required surgery
