A popular brand of wet dog food sold nationwide has been recalled after products that may contain metal and plastic were reportedly diverted into the marketplace instead of being destroyed, according to the U.S. Food and Drug <a href="https://todaytrendnews7.com/trump-administration-caps-how-long-international-students-can-stay-in-the-us/” title=”Trump administration caps how long international students can stay in the US”>Administration
Mars Petcare US, Inc. is voluntarily recalling two lots of Pedigree High Protein Chopped Chicken & Duck Flavor 13.2-ounce canned dog food after discovering the products, which had been sent to a third-party vendor for destruction, appear to have been fraudulently distributed and sold in the United States, the FDA said
According to the FDA, the recalled cans may contain sharp pieces of metal and plastic that could pose a choking hazard or cause injuries such as lacerations or blockages if consumed by dogs. The company said it has not received any reports of pet illnesses or injuries related to the recall
The recall applies only to the following lot codes:
- 613C3KKCFC
- 613C1KKCFC
No other Pedigree or Mars Petcare products are affected
Consumers who have the recalled product should not feed it to their dogs and should contact Pedigree Consumer Care at 1-800-525-5273 to request a replacement product
