
Mich. (WLNS) — As wildfire smoke from Canada cancels activities and makes outdoor conditions hazardous, a national gym chain is offering free access to everyone
Planet Fitness locations across Michigan are open for free to everyone through Sunday, according to a Thursday release

“With recent alerts due to the Canadian wildfires, we want to make sure those who normally exercise outdoors have a safe option to avoid unhealthy air quality levels,” Sarah Wilson, director of marketing at with Planet Fitness franchise division Impact Fitness Group

The goal is to help people continue healthy habits while exercising safely, Mary Scott, VP of marketing at Planet Fitness franchise division EPIC Fitness Group, said in a release
The promotion comes as a statewide air quality alert encourages people to stay inside. The alert, which says the air outside is hazardous, is in effect through Friday
The Lansing School District on Thursday canceled all student activities, including athletic practices and competitions, while the city of Jackson closed Nixon Pool and canceled all outdoor recreation programs.
