The next phase of the offseason has officially kicked off as players begin to report for NFL training camps this week, starting with the 2026 NFL Draft class
All 32 teams will report to training camp by July 28, though there are several teams getting a jump on things early. Both the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers will have both rookies and veterans reporting by July 22 as they’re set to play in the Hall of Fame Game on August 6

The Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots are the next two teams to have veterans report (July 24), set to open up the 2026 regular season with a Super Bowl LX rematch on Wednesday, September 9

Fans around the league await answers to a number of questions as training camps kick off, from who will win out the biggest quarterback battles (Deshaun Watson or Shedeur Sanders? Kyler Murray or J.J. McCarthy?) to which of the league’s new head coaches will find success in their new roles and whether or not Patrick Mahomeswill be ready for Week 1

The third-year receiver will not start training camp on the PUP list, which is a good indicator he’ll be ready to play in the Giants’ season opener
Nabers tore his ACL in a game on Sept. 28
The former Vanderbilt star quarterback joined the Ravens as an undrafted free agent. He’s now a free agent again

NFL rookies are reporting to training camp this week. And that group will include No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza
The quarterback and the Las Vegas Raiders have agreed to a four-year, $57.2 million contract, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports. The deal is fully guaranteed with a $38 million signing bonus and a fifth-year option, according to the California Post’s Vincent Bonsignore
Mendoza was selected No. 1 overall after winning the College Football Playoff national championship and the Heisman Trophy during his lone season at Indiana. Both were firsts for the Hoosiers program
Nic Scourton was carted off the field during Panthers practice on Thursday with what appeared to be a significant right knee injury. He was reportedly unable to put any pressure on his right leg
Scourton, a 2025 second-round pick, played in 17 games last season and totaled 5 sacks, 47 combined tackles and 9 QB hits
Free-agent receiver Tyreek Hill says he has no power in his left leg as he works out to regain strength following a gruesome knee injury suffered last season during a Week 4 win over the New York Jets
Hill sustained a dislocated knee and reportedly tore multiple ligaments upon being tackled in the game. He missed the remainder of the 2025-26 season and would likely miss a portion of the 2026-27 campaign based on his update
In a video posted to Instagram, Hill shows himself doing sprints on grass and a hard surface while running barefoot, in addition to running and performing standing jumps in a pool
Hill, 32, was released by the Dolphins on Feb. 16, saving the team a reported $22.8 million under their salary cap. During the 2023-24 season, he led the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns on 119 catches

The Seattle Seahawks announced Monday that they had added safety Nick Emmanwori to the PUP list, but did not provide any reasoning as to why
On Wednesday, it was revealed that the safety has had offseason ankle surgery to repair an ankle injury he suffered leading up to Seattle’s Super Bowl win
Emmanwori is still expected to play in Week 1, per ESPN’s Brady Henderson. The Seattle safety reportedly tried to manage his ankle over the offseason but, as he was ramping up for training camp, realized that an arthroscopic procedure was a better option
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett has reportedly made it to the start of training camp on Wednesday, despite ongoing conversations about his contract, per NFL Network
Brissett skipped the start of Arizona’s offseason program after asking for an extension worthy of a starting QB. Cardinals head coach Mike LaFleur said that he and Brissett “had contact” prior to the quarterback’s decision to miss voluntary workouts
Brissett did make it to mandatory minicamp in June after skipping all of the team’s optional OTAs
Brissett is expected to be the team’s QB1 ahead of career backup Gardner Minshew, Kedon Slovis and recently-drafted Carson Beck. Brissett is currently set to make $4.88 million this season in base salary, with $1.5 million guaranteed

Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman Isaiah Adams faces four gun charges in Canada but still intends to report to training camp Wednesday
Adams, who was born in Canada, turned himself in to Durham Regional Police in Toronto on Sunday. He faces charges of “possessing a weapon by crime, possessing a restricted or prohibited firearm without a license, possessing a loaded firearm and possessing a prohibited device,” per ESPN
Adams reportedly already returned to Arizona following the arrest, per ESPN
The Cardinals released a statement confirming the team was aware of the situation, but would not comment further due to the ongoing investigation

Training camp is about to start and immediately we will start receiving a lot of buzz from reporters about which players looks good, where contract issues remain unsolved, what injuries look healed or continue to linger and much more. There ultimately will be a wave of betting action on incoming news that the market races to price in
My goal is to get to the window a little early and place a few regular season win total bets before all of that news hits
Here’s one of the three bets I placed this past weekend, which I recommend taking right now:
Chicago Bearsunder 9.5 wins (-125)
The Bears have a brutally difficult schedule this season
After winning the NFC North last year, they now draw a first-place schedule of opponents, while also playing in perhaps the hardest division in the league. Adjusting strength of schedule to projected win totals for this upcoming year, the Bears have the sixth-toughest schedule in the NFL. This comes on the heels of the polar opposite situation last year where Chicago had one of the easiest preseason projected schedules, a key reason it overachieved
Beyond the forecasted schedule, Chicago’s defense thrived last season due to forced turnovers. The Bears led the NFL in turnovers forced (33), and had the largest net turnover differential at +22. Year over year, turnovers in the NFL are analytically shown to be one of the least “sticky” stats, meaning there is a significant luck factor. The NFL being described as a “game of inches” is telling, and the Bears dominating possessions again comes with likely regression to the mean
Lastly, while Chicago’s focal skill position players are young, the average age of the team actually ranks 10th oldest coming into this season. People point to Caleb Williams, Colston Loveland, Kyle Monangai, Luther Burden and Rome Odunze and think this is a team of players in their first few years in the NFL, but the glue guys are rather old. This reminds me of the Washington Commanders last year, with Jayden Daniels at the helm but a roster full of aging veterans who got hurt and significantly regressed.
The Chicago Bears are the first full fade for me, betting under 9.5 wins

Former Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro Le’Veon Bell was arrested Sunday in Ohio hours after a meet-and-greet, arrest records show
Bell was reportedly in Ohio to appear at an autograph signing at the Belden Village Mall. He was arrested hours later
Bell’s specific charges were not listed on his record, which states the arrest was “courtesy hold for another agency.” Bell was reportedly arrested due to a warrant out of Michigan
That would explain the “hold” note on Bell’s arrest record. He was arrested while in Ohio, but is presumably being held for “another agency,” presumably one in Michigan
The arrest is reportedly related to child-support payments, per CantonRep.com. Bell’s attorney, Thomas Shaffer, told CantorRep.com that Bell is being “inaccurately” charged based on his NFL salary even though he’s been out of the league for years
Bell allegedly owes over $50,000 in child support, per TMZ
Cam Skattebo decided to test the hearts of New York Giants fans as the second-year running back, who is recovering from a broken right fibula and dislocated right ankle, decided to do a backflip on stage this past weekend at Fanatics Fest
While Skattebo said he was “perfectly fine” and promised to “not hurt myself before the season,” there was a curiosity as to what John Harbaugh would think when he saw the video. While the new Giants head coach has not spoken to the running back, he did seem to be OK with it all during an appearance on the “Bleav in Giants” podcast
“I haven’t talked to him yet, I’m going to talk to him I’m sure. My reaction was this: Dude, at least stick it. I mean, land the thing if you’re going to do it, you know?” a smiling Harbaugh said. “That was my first reaction.”

As NFL training camps get set to open over the next week, HBO and NFL Films released the trailer for this season’s edition of “Hard Knocks,” which will feature the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks
The series will premiere Aug. 4 at 9 p.m. ET, a week earlier than originally scheduled. The 27th season of the show will follow Mike Macdonald’s team as it prepares to defend its title
This is the franchise’s first time on the show. Seahawks general manager John Schneider declined an offer in 2013 to appear on “Hard Knocks,” saying the team did not want to bring “attention to ourselves.”
Now that the Seahawks have given NFL Films and HBO the green light, the preparation by Macdonald, quarterback Sam Darnold and NFL Offensive Player of the Year Jaxon Smith-Njigba, among others, will be documented over five weeks leading into the 2026 NFL season
Cornerback Jaycee Horn and right tackle Taylor Moton have been placed on the reserve/non-football injury list, the Panthers announced on Tuesday
Horn is dealing with a cut on his foot that needed stitches. He is expected back on the field early in training camp. Moton was diagnosed in June with a blood clot in his left lung. The team says he is responding well to his treatment after going on blood thinners. His absence will linger into the start of the regular season, but no timeline has been announced for a return
