Middlebury man arrested after stabbing, shooting during family dispute

This incident caused Route 7 to be blocked off for hours tonight. It has since reopened. That’s where we find NBC 5’s Sofia Falbo. Sophia, still *** few police cruisers in the area right now. That’s exactly right, Liz. You could see the police cruisers right behind me at the home on Route 7 where the incident happened. *** Middlebury man is currently in custody for what police say say he stabbed his father at that home late this afternoon and then wouldn’t leave the home for more than an hour. 30 nine-year-old Joshua. allegedly sprayed his father with pepper spray and then stabbed him. Police say Puma’s father then discharged *** firearm toward Puma before leaving the house with another family member. Puma was taken into custody 90 minutes later after officers convinced him to leave the home. Middlebury Police Chief Jason Cooby says Puma surrendered peacefully. Puma was transported to Porter Porter Hospital for treatment of an apparent non-life threatening injury. He was released from the hospital and is currently in custody. Puma is currently also on federal probation. Kobe says Puma is on probation for *** stalking conviction. Puma’s father was also taken to Porter Hospital before getting airlifted to UVM Medical Center in Burlington. His condition is unknown. This is an ongoing investigation, but police say there is no threat to the public. Chief Koby says they’re working on getting *** search warrant and figuring out what led up to the stabbing.
