Acquiring Washington would address one of the Lakers’ biggest needs at power forward. Heavy.com’s Sai Mohan believes Los Angeles could also expand the deal by landing Klay Thompson in a blockbuster trade package
“Lakers would receive: Klay Thompson, P.J. Washington. Mavericks would receive: Jarred Vanderbilt, Jaden Hardy, Jake LaRaap,” Mohan wrote
The biggest sacrifice in the proposed deal would likely be parting with rookie Cameron Carr, while the remaining outgoing players are veterans the Lakers have already been rumored to be shopping. In return, Thompson and Washington would fill two significant needs by adding elite perimeter shooting and frontcourt versatility
Thompson and Washington have earned a combined $362 million throughout their NBA careers. A trade like this would strengthen the Lakers’ roster immediately, while giving the Mavericks additional depth, younger players, and future draft flexibility. It is the type of move Los Angeles would likely welcome if Dallas were willing to make it
