Jon Batiste is tending to his personal life
After the famed composer canceled multiple performances in Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut, he spoke out about the circumstances that led to the decision.
“Hello! As I navigate some personal circumstances,” Batiste wrote in a statement shared by the Instagram accounts of two of the venues—Westville Music Bowl and TD Pavilion—he was set to perform at, “I unfortunately need to cancel a portion of my upcoming performance dates including at the Westville Music Bowl on August 13th.”
But Batiste will be making it up to his listeners in the meantime.
“As we continue the rollout and release of my new albums, Monk Meditations and Monk Movements, my team and I are finding new ways and opportunities to share live music with you,” he wrote. “There’s much more to come, and I’m looking <a href="https://todaytrendnews7.com/cone-health-moves-forward-with-plans-to-build-mebane-hospital/” title=”Cone Health moves forward with plans to build Mebane hospital”>forward to what’s ahead.”
The “FREEDOM” singer added, “Refunds will be available through the original point of purchase. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. I truly can’t wait to come back and perform for you soon.”

Jon Batiste Shares Update on Wife Suleika Jaouad Amid Her Cancer Journey
Batiste’s show cancellation comes one month after his wife Suleika Jaouad shared insight into her yearslong battle with cancer, and the impact her health has on her day-to-day life
“One of illness’s optical illusions is that an empty calendar translates into free time,” Jaouad wrote on Instagram July 16. “This is technically true in the same way that owning a piano means you have access to music. The reality is that entire days disappear into appointments and infusions and the fog of fatigue and the administrative labor of having a body.”

But recently, the Emmy Award-winning journalist—who was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 before relapsing in December 2021 and again during summer 2024—had a rare breakthrough
“Then a good day unexpectedly appeared last week—a day when I felt surprisingly well, all things considered—and I found myself standing in it, blinking,” she added, “wondering whether to garden or finally answer the backlog of emails or have a friend over for dinner.”
Batiste previously detailed how he and Jaouad are navigating this journey as a team
“It’s just a process,” he told E! News in March 2025. “It goes through these different moments of treatments that are indefinite for her, it won’t stop. It will continue until there’s some innovation. We know that.”
And until then, he’s standing firm by Jaouad’s side
“Sometimes the cancer will be gone,” he continued, “other times, we’ll have to deal with what comes when it comes back and that’s just a part of our life. I support her in that.”
