Every great vacation begins with peace of mind and for travelers dreaming of a Caribbean escape, there’s now one more reason to feel confident choosing Jamaica. The 2026 Global Peace Index has named the island the most peaceful country in the Caribbean, recognizing what millions of visitors have long experienced, a destination where genuine hospitality, breathtaking natural beauty and an unmistakable sense of ease come together to create unforgettable vacations
Published annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace, the Global Peace Index is one of the world’s leading measures of peacefulness, evaluating 163 countries across indicators including safety, security and more. In the 2026 report, Jamaica ranked as the most peaceful country in the Caribbean and the third most peaceful nation in North and Central America
“As a sixth-generation Jamaican, this recognition fills me with tremendous pride because it reflects the Jamaica I’ve known my entire life,” said Adam Stewart, Executive Chairman of Sandals Resorts International. “Our greatest asset has always been our people and their warmth and generosity of spirit is what makes this island extraordinary. Jamaica is where the Sandals story began more than four decades ago, and it’s where we’ll continue to invest because we believe deeply in its future. Our hope is that every guest leaves with more than an incredible vacation, they leave with a genuine connection to Jamaica and a desire to return again and again. That’s the greatest compliment Jamaica can receive, and we’re honored to be part of that journey.”
As a company founded and proudly rooted in Jamaica, Sandals Resorts is celebrating the island’s latest global recognition while continuing to invest in the destination where its story began. With eight beachfront resorts across the island, Sandals remains committed to showcasing the very best of Jamaica, a place where vibrant culture and world-class experiences inspire travelers to relax, reconnect and make memories that last long after they return home
That commitment continues this winter as three of those iconic Jamaica resorts – Sandals Montego Bay, Sandals Caribbean Cay and Sandals South Coast – will unveil an exciting new chapter for Sandals in Jamaica following a more than US$200 million transformation, featuring beautifully redesigned accommodations, elevated dining concepts, spectacular new pools and thoughtfully curated experiences
As travelers seek destinations that inspire confidence as well as connection, Jamaica’s recognition as the Caribbean’s most peaceful country offers one more reason to choose the island. For Sandals Resorts, it’s an honor worth celebrating and another reminder of true Caribbean hospitality
