Even at the height of summer, Iceland remains chilly compared with many traditional vacation spots. Reykjavík generally sees temperatures in the 50s, while the country’s northern location means daylight stretches well into the night, Travel + Leisure reported
Summer also gives travelers access to areas that can be harder to reach at other times of year, including mountain roads and hiking trails. The season is a popular time for whale watching, with June and July among the best months for sightings, according to the publication
