I’m typically not a gadget person. Maybe it’s the years of living in small spaces and trying to maximize every inch of storage space with kitchen items that have more than one function. But when I find something that makes life easier, it will earn its spot in my kitchen. And the latest winner is this clever, clip-on strainer for pots. It’s simple. It’s relatively small, but man, is it a game-changer.
It’s one of those rare finds that quietly solves a problem you didn’t realize you had. It’s simple to use, just clip the silicone strainer directly onto the pot and drain the water from there. That’s it. No extra dishes, no awkward transfers. No giant colander taking up sink (or cabinet) space.
We make a lot of pasta, so it already gets a ton of use there. But I’ve also started attaching it to bowls to wash and strain fruits and veggies. The strainer is flexible yet sturdy, so I’ve not once had an issue with it coming unclipped and the items in the pot or bowl tumbling out. The silicone is heat-resistant and dishwasher-safe, and it fits most of my pots and bowls. It really punches above its weight in terms of cost vs. benefit. It checks all the boxes needed to find a spot in my kitchen:
