After experiencing weather delays and some construction issues, progress is being made on the Community <a href="https://todaytrendnews7.com/the-cold-facts-about-heat-and-mental-health/” title=”The cold facts about heat and mental health”>Health Center of Central Missouri’s new Women’s and Children’s Center in Jefferson City
Leaders hope to have the facility completed by December as long as there aren’t weather or supply chain issues, or other unexpected delays that slow the project down, said Kyra Clevenger, chief information officer for Community Health Center
Crews broke ground in May 2025 for the new three-story, 20,000-square-foot building that will provide OB-GYN, pediatric and dental services, according to previous News Tribune reporting. It will add more than 100 additional parking spots to the campus on Christy Drive
Clevinger said that Septagon Construction Company has completed the wall framing, crews have completed initial installation of electrical and plumbing systems and the heating and cooling system is being installed. Crews have begun placing stone on the exterior of the building, and windows will be installed in the next few weeks
At the end of this month, employee parking will be moved to the new south side parking area, Clevenger said
“This will open up the area on the north side of the building, allowing work to start on the retaining wall and the north parking lot,” Clevenger said
The project’s original target date of completion was this summer, but there were some delays to the project including weather
“The rain over the summer has made it difficult to work on the building frame,” Clevenger said. “Of course, the construction team cannot work during lightning.”
Some delays on the concrete pour for the back wall and south retaining wall slowed the project a bit, but those have been completed, Clevenger added
“After work had started in the rock-chipping phase, we had to redesign the last portion of the south wall,” Clevenger said. “As a result, we had to fabricate new forms. That took a little longer than originally thought.”
