Food news latest: Coors Light & Cheez-It team up, 19M eggs recalled for potential salmonella

Midwest poultry Services has voluntarily recalled about 19 million total individual eggs. That’s about 1.6 million dozen eggs. They’re recalling them because of potential salmonella contamination. So keep a look out for white eggs and brown cage-free eggs produced in Texas with a sell by or best by dates that would be between July 20th and August 17th of this year. The recalled eggs were sold under the brand names like Kroger, Berkshire, Simple Truth and Country Morning. Of course, this all comes after that lettuce recall as well. Next up, we also caught Lamb Weton’s Lamb Weton’s attention. That stock flat today, after they said that french fry sales are actually slipping. It’s the potato supplier to restaurants like McDonald’s. They issued a light outlook citing that customers are switching to cheaper products and diners are just eating out less as we all look to save money, I guess. The company now expects sales to grow just 1% in fiscal 2027. And get this. Cheez is teaming up with Coors light for a beer cheese flavored cracker. That’s right, you heard me right. The new snack hits shelves in will hit shelves in August for a limited time with a suggested retail price of $4.99. Now according to a news release from the Mars Inc owned brand, the new cheese it is quote, capturing the flavor of classic beer cheese spread in cracker form.
