Disney’s 2026 D23 expo was chock-full of massive film and TV news, from X-Mencasting to first looks at highly anticipated Pixar sequels

But those announcements were just the tip of the iceberg for the House of Mouse, which shared what you can expect from Disney Animation Studios, Pixar,Marvel, and Star Wars from now until late 2029. The Princess Diaries 3
Disney has yet to release a first look or release date for the highly anticipated Princess Diaries 3. However, star Anne Hathaway did come to D23 in order to provide eager audiences with an update that work on the film is still underway, telling them, “Being part of the Disney family also means being part of a legacy studio that deeply values the family audience it makes content for. It’s why we are working so hard to get The Princess Diaries 3 right. Thanks for your patience.”
While Hathaway is returning to The Princess Diariesas Genoandmother Queen Clarice Renaldi, confirmed this week that she will not be reprising her role

Ghost Market

Pixar’s getting spooky. At D23, the animation giant announced a new original film, Ghost Market, which will officially be its first ghost movie. Directed by Trevor Jimenez and Jesse Andrews, the film introduces Kyle, a young boy living in Hawaii who stumbles upon a haunted market

Director Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling showed D23 viewers the first trailer for Star Wars: Starfighter, the franchise’s next theatrical release. According to Variety, the trailer shows a young boy (Flynn Gray) playing with a decommissioned starfighter jet until pilot Kade Auberon (Gosling) tells him off. It also features looks at the jet in action. Levy emphasized that the film is a fully standalone story, with no other ties to the Skywalker saga

The buzziest announcement from D23 was undoubtedly the cast announcement for Marvel’s upcoming X-Men movie, set for a May 5, 2028, release and directed by Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*). Already introduced in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sadie Sink will be playing Jean Grey. Joining her in the newly announced cast are Christopher Abbott as Professor X, Maya Boyd as Storm, Indie Navarette as Rogue, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Kit Connor as Cyclops, and Adam Driver as villain Nathaniel Milbury

Tetsuya Nomura and Square Enix’s hit Kingdom Heartsseries is getting an anime adaptation, Disney announced at D23. Everything from story to release date is under wraps, but Disney did release a first-look image of game protagonist Sora and his Keyblade. According to Disney, the Kingdom Heartsanime “reimagines the iconic adventure with a brand-new story that will expand on the universe of Kingdom Hearts while celebrating the characters that have captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world.”

Percy Jackson and the OlympiansSeason 3
Disney released a new teaser trailer for Percy Jackson and the OlympiansSeason 3, which adapts Rick Riordan’s The Titan’s Curse. This season sees Percy Jackson (Walker Scobell) on another quest, with his trusty satyr bestie Grover (Aryan Simhadri) at his side, along with new arrivals Thalia Grace (Tamara Smart) and Bianca de Angelo (Olive Abercrombie). Notably missing is Annabeth Chase (Leah Sava Jeffries), who’s been kidnapped. This latest teaser trailer highlights Percy’s distraught reaction to that development, as well as a pivotal desert-set sequence in the Junkyard of the Gods. As Percy Jacksonbook fans know, that scene (and the whole season, really) is going to hurt.

As he does, he’ll cross paths with the human avatars of other Marvel AI characters, including Dum-E (Henry Lewis), U (Jonathan Sayer), J.A.R.V.I.S. (James D’Arcy), F.R.I.D.A.Y.
