Art & Garden Festival: Petaluma’s annual Art & Garden festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 12 all over downtown Petaluma
The event features information and supplies to support gardeners with their own plant-growing projects. For those who simply like to shop, there will be approximately 100 hand-picked craftspeople and other exhibitors showcasing their paintings, sculptures, crafts, jewelry, garden art and exterior decor, along with plants, home goods and unique creations, all of made by a curated assembly of artists and makers from around Northern California
Admission is free. The Petaluma Art & Garden Festival takes place in downtown Petaluma in the area of Kentucky Street, 4th Street, B Street and the A Street parking lot

Learn about irrigation: Harmony Farm Supply presents a free workshop on irrigation from 10 a.m. to noon, July 11
Certified irrigation designer Patricia Hamilton will be touching on drip irrigation benefits (low-volume, saves water, less weeds, decreased disease), typical applications, design considerations (e.g., number and type of emitters for plants), basic hose bibb head assembly, filters, pressure regulators, drip hose, fittings, assembly tools, drip emitters, spaghetti tubing, inline emitters, soaker-type tubing, mini-sprinklers, troubleshooting tips. Presentation will also involve showing and passing around drip system components, with a brief assembly demonstration.

Windsor
Windsor Town Green Community Garden: The Windsor Garden Club invites community gardeners to come on out for the Second Saturday Workday from 9 a.m. to noon. Aug. 8 at the Windsor Town Green Community Garden, at the corner of Windsor River Road and Joe Rodota Drive in the Town Hall complex
Bring a hat, your gloves, water, and your favorite garden tool and spend some time working with fellow gardeners to maintain the common areas of the garden. Tasks include weeding or raking pathways between the beds, cleaning birdbaths, tidying the greenhouse, washing the solar panels — anything that needs sprucing up
All community garden plot renters are required to put in six hours a calendar year (about a half-hour a month) volunteering to maintain the common areas. Garden lovers, friends and family always welcome. You can help out if you sign the Town of Windsor Liability Waiver. Check in with Second Saturday Garden Leaders about the waiver, and tasks needed this month

Sustainability and defensible space: UC Master Gardener Program of Sonoma County presents a class on sustainability and defensible space from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Aug. 22 at Los Guilicos Demonstration and Teaching Garden, 7464 Rancho Los Guilicos Road
Learn how to create and maintain a firewise, sustainable garden that supports biodiversity while meeting County code requirements. This workshop covers plant selection, placement, and maintenance practices that preserve and even enhance wildlife habitat — while keeping your property and neighborhood fire-safe

Join a garden club: The Valley of the Moon Garden Club meets every second Thursday of the month in Burlingame Hall at First Congregational Church, 252 W. Spain St
The evening begins with a meet and greet at 6:30 p.m., followed by a program at 7:15 p.m. There will be a plant draw and refreshments
Members attend free. A $5 donation is requested from guests and can be applied toward membership, which is $30 per year
