Indian River Co. teachers using A.I. strategically, student must still master coursework

VERO BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —Artificial intelligence is not replacing teachers
Instead, Indian River County teachers are using the technology to enhance learning and better meet the needs of their students
According to District Superintendent Dr. David Moore, the district is being strategic in how it implements the technology
He says students are provided with district-owned devices, allowing staff to monitor when A.I. is accessed and how it is being used in coursework
That gives teachers greater insight into how students are using the technology
Teachers are also using A.I. to help build and expand lesson plans and identify student needs in the classroom
“It’s helping group students, or identify, these students have these learning concerns,” Moore told CBS12 News
The superintendent tells CBS12 News the district is also making sure students are familiar with A.I. However, students will always be required to demonstrate that they have mastered their coursework in the classroom, in front of their teacher
