Ala. (WBRC) – A group in Birmingham is set to hold a wellness event for teenage girls who have experienced trauma
A.W. Brooks Serenity Home is hosting Serenity Rising: Community Day in the Park to connect people and families with health, wellness, and community re
The group, who is in the development phase of creating a trauma-informed group home for high school girls who have experienced trauma, said their mission is to provide a safe and supportive home where girls can heal and grow to reclaim their future
“Serenity Rising is about bringing rehile sharing the vision for A.W. Brooks Serenity Home. We want people to understand that our girls deserve a safe place designed specifically to help them heal, grow and thrive,” said Founder and President/CEO Tomeka Mills
The group said the event will feature community organizations and wellness reties for residents to connect with local leaders and organizations. Officials also said free food will be available while supplies last
Serenity Rising: Community Day in the Park will take place Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at McAlpine Park in Birmingham
