More than 12,000 pounds of smoked bacon imported by Maple Leaf Foods has been recalled after federal officials determined the products entered the U.S. without the required import inspection. The recalled bacon was sold at Grocery Outlet stores in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. According to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service, no related illnesses have been reported

GreenWise Frozen Berry Recall Expanded Over E. Coli Risk

This is an expansion of a July 6 recall involving frozen GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries. Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. originally recalled all 10-ounce bags for potential E. coli contamination after they were distributed to Publix stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. Then, on July 29, the recall expanded to include all lot codes of 10 and 48-ounce GreenWise Organic Whole Mixed Berries and 48-ounce GreenWise Organic Whole Blueberries sold at Publix stores in those same states. The CDC reports 12 people sickened in relation to this recall, four of whom were hospitalized. Freezing does not kill E. coli, so check your freezer if you think you may have purchased the recalled berries. GreenWise berries should be thrown out or returned to Publix for a refund.
