Buc-ee’s to open new 74,000-square-foot travel center in San Marcos August 12

SAN MARCOS, Texas —Buc-ee’s is set to open its newest Texas travel center next week, bringing more than 200 jobs and a new stop along the Interstate 35 corridor
The company announced the San Marcos Buc-ee’s will officially open Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 3245 N. IH-35. The travel center will open to the public at 6 a.m., followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m

The new location spans 74,000 square feet and features 128 fueling positions. Customers can expect Buc-ee’s signature offerings, including Texas barbecue, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver Nuggets, jerky and fresh pastries
San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson and Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra are expected to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony
“The Buc-ee’s mantra is ‘exceed expectations,’ and this San Marcos location is a special step for us in that regard,” Stan Beard of Buc-ee’s said in a statement. “The San Marcos store will help us provide the ultimate Buc-ee’s experience to all I-35 travelers, north and southbound.”
According to the company, the new store will create more than 200 jobs, offering starting pay above minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% 401(k) match and three weeks of paid vacation
With the San Marcos opening, Buc-ee’s will operate 57 locations nationwide, including 36 in Texas
Buc-ee’s will also host a First Responders Day preview event on Monday, Aug. 10, ahead of the store’s grand opening
