The Fargo Park District said it has wrapped up its review of a cybersecurity incident that occurred last fall and has notified people who may potentially have been impacted
The cybersecurity incident was discovered on Oct. 27, 2025, and a team at the Park District began to investigate, the local government agency posted on its website in late March
An initial review found no evidence that any third-party vendor systems, such as registration, meal service or golf platforms, were accessed, the Park District said at the time
Now that its review is final, the agency has notified users about possible impacts, based on state and federal guidelines
The Forum requested an interview with the Park District about the matter, but a media contact said there is
no additional information to provide beyond a public statement on its website
The cybersecurity incident began with unusual activity described as temporary disruptions to phone, email and internal systems, the Park District’s statement read
Through quick work by staff, systems were restored and the incident was contained
The Fargo Park District consulted third-party forensic specialists and legal counsel
An investigation found certain personal information may have been viewed and copied by an unauthorized person between Sept. 17, 2025, and Oct. 28, 2025
That information varies but could include the following: name, date of birth, driver’s license, state identification number, passport number, Social Security number, individual taxpayer identification number, financial information, bank account number, payment card number, Medicare or Medicaid number, parent’s birth name, patient account number, health information and health insurance information
On July 13, the Park District sent a Notice of Data Privacy Event letter to people whose information was in the affected files
In the letter, the agency said it is not aware of any misuse of information to commit fraud, but wanted to provide an overview of what happened and pass along available re
Affected parties may have access to credit monitoring and proactive fraud assistance services, at no charge
They must enroll within 90 days of the date of the Notice of Data Privacy Event letter
If a person does not receive such a letter but would like to know if they are affected, they may call the Fargo Park District’s dedicated assistance line at 1-833-752-1762, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m
