The first week of August marks the start of water polo season in the Dallas area
Since 2022, the UIL-sanctioned state championship sport has continued to grow. In its fifth year, many Dallas-area high schools will begin competition as early as Thursday
Flower Mound Marcus continued its storied success in 2025. The girls team finished 23-1 and won the 6A state championship, defeating Southlake Carroll in the regional final to earn a place in the championship game

On the boys side, Hebron finished 31-5 but lost 17-15 in the 6A state championship game to League City Clear Creek
Standout talent will be on display again in 2026. Here are five Dallas-area girls and five Dallas-area boys to watch during the fifth UIL water polo season. Stats and figures are
GIRLS
Sarah Marlin, Flower Mound Marcus
Marlin, a junior, earned all-tournament team honors for her performance during the Marauders’ state championship run. The 5-foot-7 driver also received TISCA first-team all-region honors. Since last season, Marlin has played club water polo for the North Texas Mavericks, participated in the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program and played for L.A. Premier

Arini Rawat, Flower Mound Marcus
Rawat was the second Marcus underclassman to earn all-tournament honors at the 2025 state championship. The goalkeeper recorded 11 saves in the state championship game, stopping 45.8% of the shots on goal
Schmidt tallied 72 goals during her junior season, a 30-goal increase from her sophomore year. She also recorded 14 assists and 31 steals. A utility player and driver, Schmidt is the program’s captain. She played club water polo with NOVA in California and attended the Pegasus Water Polo Academy
Sarah Demas, Southlake Carroll

As a freshman, Demas averaged 8.5 points per game and produced 205 total points last season, the fifth-most in Texas. She was relied upon to replace the significant goal production the program lost to graduation after the 2024 season
Avery Ringger, Prosper
Ringger produced 86 goals and 40 assists during her junior season. She was a marquee contributor to the program’s first winning season, a 22-8 campaign. Prosper had previously never finished with more than 12 wins
BOYS
Charlie Gall, Dallas Jesuit

Gall has produced 360 career points through three high school seasons. As a junior, he scored a career-high 106 goals and recorded 31 assists. Gall’s father, Jason, has been the Rangers’ head coach since 2021. The father-son duo enters its final season together this fall
Danny Presley, North Forney
Presley produced a team-high 60 goals for the Falcons during his junior season. At 6-foot-1, he uses his size to create difficult match ups for opponents. The right-handed utility player has experience in Junior Olympic tournaments and played club water polo for the Pegasus Water Polo Academy in North Dallas
Covy Renfroe, Hebron
As a freshman, Renfroe scored two goals and added three assists in the 6A state final. Hebron lost the match 17-15 to League City Clear Creek. The attacker and utility player scored 96 goals and added 97 assists during his first season. He recorded at least three points in all 31 games he played last season

Landon Overstreet, Flower Mound
In 2025, Overstreet was named Flower Mound’s water polo offensive player of the year after scoring 80 goals and recording 34 assists during his sophomore season. The Jaguars endured a rocky season, finishing 15-12 after losing to rival Flower Mound Marcus in the regional quarterfinals. Overstreet scored three goals in that game
Devon Lloyd, Flower Mound Marcus
Lloyd has been a valuable part of the dominant Marauders program since 2023. Now a senior, the versatile goal scorer is stepping into a significant leadership role after numerous starters graduated or left the program
