As I told you earlier, the PTA tax on some iPhone models is equal to or even more than the market price of that phone. Let’s take the example of the iPhone 13 Pro; its average market price ranges from Rs. 125,000 to Rs. 145,000. Guess what? It’s PTA tax on the CNIC is nearly Rs. 128,800 (almost the same as the phone’s market price). So, you can buy various iPhone 13 models (PTA approved) available on OLX at affordable prices. But remember to check the PTA status of your phone before buying it to avoid any fraud.
Overseas Pakistanis and Foreign Nationals Are Exempted from PTA Taxes?
An important update is that overseas Pakistanis no longer need to pay PTA taxes to register their mobile phones. The recently introduced temporary mobile registration service grants overseas Pakistanis and foreign visitors in Pakistan a 120-day period for registering their mobile devices without incurring any duties or taxes. During this time, these individuals can utilize local mobile networks on their phones.
