Birding tour

Meet leader Ralph Bucher at the Visitor Center for this two-mile walk along a wide, flat trail that is packed with gravel and easily accessible
Just outside of town, this refuge offers astounding and easy access to tidally-influenced habitats, including mudflats, riparian vegetation, conifers, and a bay that hosts a variety of geese, raptors, shorebirds and waders. Email Ralph to sign up at thebook@reninet.com
Kite festival
People Power for Palestine and Shine a Light on Palestine will host a kite festival Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Manila Beach/Montessori School entrance, 1611 Peninsula Drive, Manila
The village of Burin in the Nablus District has held a kite festival almost every July since 2008 as a multi-day festival of Palestinian civil resistance, livelihood and culture. Local folks are invited to come fly a kite in celebration and support of Palestinian’s Burin Land and Farming
Cooperative’s kite festival. Burin is a traditional Palestinian agricultural village located in occupied northern West Bank

Dance party
A dance featuring live music and “a great floor” takes place Mondays from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka. Admission is $9
Play bingo
Bingo is played every Tuesday at the Moose Lodge, 4328 Campton Road, Eureka
The public is welcome and the snack bar is open
Doors open at 5 p.m. Early bird games begin at 6 p.m. Regular games start at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds go back into the community
‘Barks & Brews’
Redwood Pals Rescue will host its second “Barks & Brews” dog-friendly brew festival at Azalea Hall and Pierson Park in McKinleyville, on July 18 from 2 to 6 p.m
Attendees can bring their canine companions and sip on unlimited pours from the Humboldt Homebrewers Club, enjoy live music by A Banjo Makes 3, feast on fare from local food trucks, enter to win locally donated raffle prizes, and meet adoptable dogs ready to find their forever homes
Attendees must be 21 or older to partake of the homebrew tastings. Securely leashed, well-behaved dogs of all sizes are welcome

Mini Masters
The Humboldt Arts Council will hold a “Mini Masters” program July 19 at noon at the Morris Graves Museum of Art, 636 F St., Eureka. This monthly event is always free
Families are invited to participate together in this art-making workshop that complements the month’s story-time book. These workshops are designed to inspire literacy, creativity and community. Projects are geared toward children ages 2 to 5, but children of all ages are welcome
This month’s book is “Outside In” by Deborah Underwood. After listening to the story, parents and children are invited to make nature scenes of their own with help and guidance from art educator Genevieve Kjesbu
All kids can take home their own free copy of the month’s story-time book at the end of the gathering
