This summer, the Dallas Mavericks revamped their front office, coaching staff and roster around star forward Cooper Flagg
Masai Ujiri took over as president in early May and hired Dusty May as the team’s coach seven weeks later. On draft night, the Mavericks added Michigan big man Morez Johnson Jr. and Spanish guard Sergio De Larrea. Then in the trade market, the Mavericks targeted four more players, including Zaccharie Risacher — the No. 1 pick in the 2024 draft — and Santi Aldama — who quietly was one of the NBA’s more productive stretch big men during his five years in Memphis
Do the Mavericks have enough ballhandling and playmaking, even with Kyrie Irving set to return from his season-long absence due to a torn ACL? And will the additions of Aldama and Tarik Biberović help alleseason? The new-look Mavericks will start to get some of those answers in their Oct. 21 season-opener against the Houston Rockets
Before fall arrives, I wanted to hear from Mavericks fans about this summer of change. Our survey below contains 10 questions that touch on all the new faces in Dallas, realistic expectations for this year’s squad and the Mavericks’ plans to vacate American Airlines Center five years from now. Results of the survey, along with my thoughts on responses, will be published at a later date
