Distribution of the affected lot reached retail and wholesale customers in eleven states, including the following: Kentucky, Arizona, California, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. There were also frozen direct-to-consumer online orders
People and pets can both become ill from salmonella. The FDA explained that human exposure can happen by handling contaminated pet food or by touching surfaces it has contacted, particularly if people don’t wash their hands thoroughly afterward
The company said its effort to identify how the contamination started is ongoing
