Rochester movie theater set to reopen this fall
(ABC 6 News) — A local movie theater is set to make its grand return to Rochester after closing down last year
In July of 2025, CMX Chateau shut its doors for good, but now, Paragon Theaters, who owned the cinema between 2011 and 2017, says it will be reopening this year
Officials with Paragon said the theater will be at the same location on the northeast side of town (3450 East Circle Drive NE) right next to Chip Shots and BB’s Pizzeria
“The moviegoing experience this year has been great. The industry is up 20%. A lot of the Gen Z population is now rediscovering the moviegoing experience. And so, we feel is a very bright future in moviegoing, to come out and socialize, event with your friends and see a movie on the big screen,” said Michael Whalen, the co-owner and co-CEO of Paragon Theaters
Paragon’s return to Rochester will include an upgraded experience for moviegoers, including advanced cinema technology, luxury seating, expanded food and beverage options, and personalized guest service
It will even include a room for private gatherings, called The Director’s Room, which is a soundproof screening space that can be reserved for family movie nights, birthday celebrations, corporate events, sporting-event watch parties, and other private screenings
Renovations are still ongoing, but doors are expected to open late October or early November
