Pa. (WBNG) — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is encouraging motorists traveling to the Little League World Series to use a specialized web page for real-time traffic updates
Hosted on the 511PA website, the page monitors primary travel routes and suggests alternate paths to help drivers avoid delays
“Our goal is to help travelers plan ahead by providing them with as much information as possible,” said PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll. “By sharing real-time traffic speed information along alternate routes, drivers can be aware of traffic conditions and choose the route that works best for them as they travel to this year’s Little League World Series.”
Users can check the map to see active construction projects, traffic speeds and live camera feeds along major roadways such as Interstate 80 and Route 15
Additionally, transportation officials are using electronic message boards on regional highways to broadcast updates directly to drivers
Travelers are urged to remain alert for shifting traffic patterns, stopped vehicles and increased pedestrian traffic near the event
“During the series, and always, please drive safely,” added Carroll. “Always pay attention when you are behind the wheel – put down your phone, it’s dangerous and illegal in Pennsylvania – wear your seat belt and follow the posted speed limit.”
The free traveler information service is accessible 24 hours a day online, through a smartphone app or by calling 5-1-1
