PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. – Soldiers from the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Division partnered with the North Jersey Recruiting Company to support Army recruiting efforts during the New Jersey State Fair earlier this month
The partnership provided an opportunity for Soldiers to engage directly with fairgoers, share their Army experiences and highlight the diverse career opportunities available through military service
EOD Soldiers brought a unique perspective to the recruiting effort, giving visitors an opportunity to learn about the specialized mission of explosive ordnance disposal and the technical expertise required to safely identify, assess and respond to explosive hazards
Throughout the event, Soldiers spoke with members of the community and answered questions about Army life, training and career opportunities. Their presence also helped demonstrate how specialized Army missions connect Soldiers with science, technology, engineering and other highly skilled fields
For the North Jersey Recruiting Company, working alongside Soldiers currently serving in a specialized operational role offered prospective recruits a firsthand look at the range of opportunities available in today’s Army
Community events such as the New Jersey State Fair allow recruiters and Soldiers to connect with people outside traditional recruiting environments while building awareness of Army careers and the missions Soldiers perform around the world
The partnership between the Armaments Center’s EOD unit and the North Jersey Recruiting Company underscored the importance of Soldiers sharing their experiences with the next generation of potential recruits—and showed fairgoers that an Army career can provide opportunities to serve, develop specialized skills and take on challenging missions
The New Jersey State Fair is a non-profit agricultural fair held annually in early August at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, New Jersey. Combined with the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show, it draws over 200,000 visitors yearly for livestock shows, carnival rides, live entertainment, and tractor pulls
The opportunities offered to those who willingly, voluntarily join the military are unmatched, so if you are thinking about joining the Army, visit GoArmy.com or call 1-888-550-Army
