The U.S. News and World Report has released its rankings for the best hospitals in the United States, and Illinois had two ranked in the top 20 nationally.
The Northwestern Medicine-Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Rush University Medical Center, both located in Chicago, were listed on the Honor Roll by U.S. News and World Report as one of the 20 best hospitals overall in the nation.

The Best Hospitals Honor Roll highlights 20 hospitals that excel across most or all types of care evaluated by U.S. News. Hospitals received points if they were nationally ranked in the 14 specialties – the more specialties and the higher their rank, the more points they got – and if they were rated High Performing in maternity care and any of the 23 procedures and conditions. The top point-scorers made the Honor Roll.
In each state and region, hospitals with a wide breadth of excellence are recognized as Best Regional Hospitals. Most of the top hospitals in Illinois are located in Chicago and the surrounding area in the northern part of the state.
Towards the southern portion of the state, they actually rank the top hospitals of St. Louis. The Barnes-Jewish Hospital took the top spot for that region with the Missouri Baptist Medical Center following it up. These hospitals were also ranked as the top regional hospitals in all of Missouri.
