The Falcons take on the Denver Broncos on Friday night to begin their preseason slate. How Stefanski approaches the quarterback position for this contest remains to be seen. Before the game, though, we learned a bit more about who may be the favorite to land the starting job
“Stefanski, I’m told, is willing to be pretty patient here. He may be willing to wait this out until after the preseason to name a starter when you have to have more of an official depth chart. But, certainly, the inside track goes to Tua right now,” ESPN insider Jeremy Jowler said in a report on Friday

Tagovailoa is looking for a clean slate following a brutal end to his time with the Miami Dolphins. He struggled with injuries, mainly concussions, during his Dolphins tenure. In 2025, he threw for less than 3000 yards while tossing 20 touchdowns to 15 interceptions in 14 games

The Falcons signed the former fifth overall pick to a one-year contract in the spring. Atlanta hopes he can rebound with a change of scenery and a new coaching staff. So far, it appears the new staff has liked what he has brought to the team. This could certainly result in him earning the starting job for Week 1 if he can make an impression during the preseason
