If you have any interest in the film festival circuit, you’ve probably heard about Na Hong-jin’s bonkers Korean monster-action epic Hope. The film had a huge response following its premiere, and marks a departure from the director’s previous films, the thrilling The Chaser and certified horror banger The Wailing. This time around, Hong-jin has gone all-out with a relentless action spectacle
The film has already had one South Korea’s biggest film openings of 2026 following its July 15 release. The good news is that you won’t have to wait long to see Hope, because it now has a UK release date
NEON announced today that the film will be released in UK and Irish cinemas on 25 September, meaning we’re now just over a month away from seeing it for ourselves. The film follows two police officers who are called to investigate a mysterious creature that has wreaked havoc on a village. And, supposedly, once the action kicks off, the spectacle rarely lets up. Monster Movie Fury Road, anyone?
Most impressively, Na Hong-jin has assembled an impressive cast for the film, including Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung and Squid Game breakout HoYeon. Not only that, but Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell and Cameron Britton are also part of the very starry line-up
If you’ve seen any of the director’s previous films, this is certainly one to get excited about. So, see you at the cinema on 25 September
