Kidman was 23 when she married Cruise, then 28, in a 1990 ceremony in Telluride, Colorado. The couple met while co-starring in the film “Days of Thunder,” which also came out in 1990. Within five years, they had adopted two children, Isabella and Connor. They co-starred in “Eyes Wide Shut” in 1999
“Suddenly I was 22, 23 years old and I had this huge movie star husband. But it just seemed completely natural. We just fell madly in love and it was that simple,” she said
Nicole Kidman made her first red carpet appearance since debuting her rumored new man, private equity investor Michael Reinstein while vacationing in Italy.
The actor said she received some cautionary advice before the wedding, which she ignored
“I remember people saying to me, ‘OK, well this is really going to affect your career.’ I’m like, ‘I don’t care. I’m in love. I want to be married,’” Kidman said. “And then I was his ‘wife’ and they were like, ‘See, we told you.’ I’m like, ‘So what? I wasn’t meant to marry the man I love? Of course I’ll throw my career away. I don’t care.’”

Kidman, 59, did not throw her career away in the slightest, going on to win an Academy Award, six Golden Globes, two Emmys, and a BAFTA. This year alone, she’s starring in the sequel to “Practical Magic” and the TV shows “Lioness,” “Scarpetta” and “Margot’s Got Money Troubles.”
Kidman and Cruise shared they were separating in 2001. Kidman went on to marry Keith Urban and have two daughters with him, Sunday Rose and Faith. Last year, Kidman and Urban shared they were splitting after 19 years together

Kidman has spoken about her relationship with Cruise sparingly. During an interview with New York Magazine for their Women in Power series in 2018, Kidman said she married Cruise for both love and “protection.”
“I got married very young, but it definitely wasn’t power for me — it was protection. I married for love, but being married to an extremely powerful man kept me from being sexually harassed. I would work, but I was still very much cocooned. So when I came out of it at 32, 33, it’s almost like I had to grow up,” she said
