3 NY hospitals named among nation’s best by U.S. News. See the rankings

U.S. News & World Report this week named the top performing hospitals in the nation and three that received the top honors are within the Empire State
The publication’s 2026-2027 Best Hospitals rankings – released on Tuesday, Aug. 4 – recognized the nation’s top-performing hospitals based on patient outcomes, including survival rates, preventable complications, and patient experience. In all, more than 4,500 hospitals in the nation were evaluated as part of the latest survey
Best Hospitals Honor Roll
Twenty hospitals in the U.S. were named to the national honor roll, a distinction recognizing top-tier care across 14 specialties. The honored hospitals were not ranked in any sort of order within the top group of 20. Of all 4,500 hospitals evaluated this year, 178 “performed well enough” to be nationally ranked in at least one specialty and considered for the honor roll
In New York, the three hospitals honored include:

- NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell, New York City

Best Regional Hospitals
Nationally, 505 hospitals were honored as best regional hospitals nationwide – broken down by state. To qualify, a hospital must offer full-service facilities that “consistently deliver exceptional care across a wide range of medical needs,” according to the publication

- Mount Sinai Hospital, New York City (Tied for first in New York)
- NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell, New York City (Tied for first in New York)
- NYU Langone Hospitals, New York City (Tied for first in New York)
- North Shore University Hospital at Northwell Health, Manhasset (Ranked fourth in New York)
- Long Island Jewish Medical Center at Northwell Health, New Hyde Park (Tied for fifth in New York)
- Montefiore Einstein, Bronx (Tied for fifth in New York)
- St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center, Roslyn (Tied for fifth in New York)
- Lenox Hill Hospital at Northwell Health, New York City (Ranked eighth in New York)
- White Plains Hospital, White Plains (Ranked ninth in New York)
- Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West Hospitals, New York City (Ranked 10th in New York)
- Huntington Hospital at Northwell Health, Huntington (Ranked 11th in New York)
- South Shore University Hospital at Northwell Health, Bay Shore (Ranked 12th in New York)
- Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester, Rochester (Ranked 13th in New York)
- NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, Flushing (Ranked 14th in New York)
- Rochester General Hospital-Rochester Regional Health, Rochester (Ranked 15th in New York)

The U.S. News & World Report also ranked hospitals nationally by more than a dozen specialties, including cancer care centers, cardiology and obstetrics and gynecology. New York hospitals consistently ranked well among some specialties
