Perez Hilton sparks police response with disturbing behavior on TikTok livestream

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office released a statement after fans were left horrified as Perez Hilton went live on TikTok on August 4 and appeared to harm himself
The 48-year-old celebrity blogger, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr., sparked concern after footage circulated from his TikTok live stream on Tuesday evening, in which he appeared holding a large kitchen knife
The graphic stream, which fans initially thought was a stunt, abruptly ended as the media personality alluded to law enforcement arriving at his Miami residence. This comes after harrowing photos emerged of the car crash that killed 18-year-old Godzilla child star, Kaylee Hottle

Fans begged Perez to tell them his phone number as they urged him to stop and dial 911. Police were reportedly seen outside of his Miami home, which he shares with his mother and three children. Shortly after the stream ended, Perez’s TikTok account appeared to have been taken down
A spokesperson for the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office told Newsweek that deputies received “multiple calls” about the livestream and “quickly located the male’s residence.”
According to police, officers spoke with family members at the scene, who confirmed he was alone inside the home. Law enforcement officials reportedly said deputies have since “tactically disengaged” but are continuing to monitor the situation
The statement continued, “In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication
Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilizing crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimize the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public.”
After clips of the video circulated on social media, former politician George Santos wrote on X, “Please pray for Perez Hilton folks. He needs the power of prayer and the strength of our Lord and Savior.”
Fans flooded X with words of support and concern for the media personality with comments like “Wait, what is actually going on with Perez Hilton?! Hope everyone involved is okay, this sounds crazy,” and “Pray for Perez Hilton and his kids. He’s clearly in crisis and needs prayer rather than judgement. Whatever you feel for someone, their soul is the concern of mankind.”
Perez is known for his celebrity news reporting, which dates back to 2004, and has become a fixture in pop culture media since. His website, PerezHilton.com, shared real-time coverage of Hollywood celebs and featured hand-doodled captions on photos
In March, he spent 21 days in the hospital after developing sepsis, and provided fans a personal update on his health on his YouTube channel
